SIZE DOESN'T MATTER!

Even though some orders are bigger then others, we appreciate the small ones just the same. We always send out our orders by date received, not by order size.  We aim to treat each customer well, because you are important to us!

 Reminder!

Lately we have seen more interest in paying for your order by mail. If this interests you, we want to make sure you are aware that we do offer payment by mail when you place your order. Just look for this option when you place your order. Also, it does take a little extra time in the mail and clearing your check, but this is a nice alternative for those of you who are nervous about placing orders online.

 Step-By-Step Instructions in 22 Seconds!

After viewing this short video, you will see how easy our technique is to make a perfectly flat backed mold, without distorting your casting.

  1. 1. Start by conditioning and rolling a ball of clay to fit your mold. Warm up the clay by rolling it around in your hands and kneading it.

  1. 2. Then dust the inside of the mold with corn starch using an old fluffy artist brush or make-up brush.

  1. 3. Now place the ball of clay in the center of the mold. If it is a large shallow mold you can place a sheet of clay over the mold instead.

  1. 4. Next place a transparent paper on the top of the ball. A clear page from a book report cover or one layer of a page-protector works well, or any other type of clear sheet that you have on hand that is sturdy, but not too sturdy that it wont peel off the back of the clay later. Read on to see why. We have these sheets available for sale on our website.

  1. 5. Now place a clear glass or Plexiglas tile in top of that. Some things you can use can be found at a dollar store such as a flat clear plate, candle drip base, acrylic photo holder, a clear coaster or a piece of glass taken out of a small picture frame. We have these tiles available for sale on our website

  1. 6. Press the tile (or whatever you have chosen to use) down filling in the mold, allowing the excess clay to flow-over the edges. You will be able to see what's going on underneath if your tile is clear. Be sure to press down until you are happy with the thickness of the back. Also, if you are concerned about making the back perfectly level, glue four small Lego pieces to each corner of the tile. This controls how far down the tile will go, and keeps it level. You can add more Lego pieces to control the height of the tile as well.
